DM ToolkitYou can now view DMXML directly from your web browser, and convert it into HTML to copy/paste into word processors and other external applications!

By popular demand, I’ve created a new script that converts DM Toolkit data into HTML. You can see a working example here: http://www.lvl99games.com/dmxmlToHtml.php?preview=10

If you want to convert your own files to HTML, you can do so with this script: http://www.lvl99games.com/?page_id=564

Also note that in the downloads section, you can now preview files before downloading them: http://www.lvl99games.com/?page_id=445

Remember that DMXML is an open, XML-based file format, and the specifications for it can be found here: http://www.lvl99games.com/dmtoolkit/FeedCreation.html You can use dmxml freely to import or export data to your websites, programs, or other projects.

Happy Gaming!

DM Toolkit

The DM Toolkit Content Portal is now in Open Beta Testing!

With this content portal, you can upload your original creations, as well as download user-created templates, resources, adventures, and crib sheets. Once Cartographer debuts (hopefully sometime late this week), Cartographer maps will also be downloadable from this interface!

If you’re a DM Toolkit user, why not submit your original content for the world to see? If you’re not, there’s no time like the present to get into the community and build your world with this exciting utility!

A lot of users were asking about this feature–and now, thanks to the diligence of forum user lomythica, we have it! You can use the Crib sheets interface to link to sound files on your device and play them at opportune moments for your players. This post will show you everything you need to get started!

First off, head over to the DM Toolkit Download section and pick up the Soundboard Crib Sheet.

Next, open the crib sheet in your notepad or preferred HTML editor. Modify one of the table rows by including the song/sound you wish to include, as well as the file name of that song/sound. Then drop the song into DM Toolkit’s file sharing area in iTunes. The sheet posted online contains room for 12 files, but you can include as many as you want by copying or deleting rows.

Install the crib sheet as normal, making sure that you name it correctly for your campaign. Crib sheets need to be named “Crib-[YourCampaignName]-X.html” where [YourCampaignName] is the name of the campaign you’ve created in DM Toolkit, and X is the number of the sheet. Check out this reference video for more information on installing these files into your application.

If you’ve followed these steps correctly, then your sound board will appear in the app when you visit the Crib sheets interface. You can now play sounds and music by touching the control within the Crib sheet. Sounds will continue to play even after you close the crib sheet, so you’ll need to manually pause a song you begin (or switch off the sound on your device) when you want some quiet. Alternatively (and especially for sounds rather than songs), you can change “loop=’true’” to “loop=’false’” within the embed tags of your crib sheet.

This feature was developed and built by users just like you working together in our forums. If you’re not a member of our forums yet, come on in and see what kind cool things are happening to improve this and other Level 99 apps!

In other news:

The DM Toolkit user upload area is currently under construction, and should be online sometime during the next week! Keep checking back for updates!
