Fairy Tale is a free, unofficial, print-and-play expansion for the game Dominion.
Fairy Tale is an unofficial fan production, and is not affiliated with nor endorsed by Rio Grande Games or Donald X Vaccarino.
In order to play Fairy Tale, you will need the following things:
- A copy of any Dominion Base Set (either Dominion, or Dominion: Intrigue)
- A local printer that will print a PDF file for you (Staples, Kinkos, or Office Max are fine for this).
- A little elbow grease.
Magic has come to your domain. You knew you were taking a risk when you opened the borders to those magic bean salesmen, but surely hiring the troll to collect tolls on your new bridge was the right move? The old fortune teller who came to your castle that fateful night said that your wishes would come true, and now everything you touch is turning to gold!
You scoffed when your advisers told you those old wizards were dangerous, but now, with strange lights flashing over the nearby mountains at night, you can’t help but wonder if they were right. Bargaining with a sorceress could grant you power and wealth, but slaying a dragon might bring even more. Only by wit, courage, and a little hard-earned wisdom will you be able to protect and expand your domain.

How to Print and Play
The Easy Way:
A deck of blank cards comes in every base set of Dominion. Print up and cut out one copy of each Fairy Tale card in the PDF above (1 copy of the PDF). When playing Dominion, and you draw a blank card as one of your Kingdom cards, choose a random Fairy Tale card and set it beside the blank Kingdom card pile. All copies of the blank cards are treated as though they are the Fairy Tale Kingdom card.
If you want to play with multiple Fairy Tale cards, you will need multiple blank cards. Use a marker or colored sticker to mark the second set of blank cards, so that it is distinguishable from the first.
The Hard Way:
For this to work, you will need to acquire sleeves for your entire Dominion game, plus expansions. Dominion cards are Euro card size (2.25″ x 3.5″), and the base sets each contain 500 cards. Once your Dominion collection is sleeved, proceed.
Print out and cut out 10 copies of the PDF above. Choose any blank cards you own, as well as your least favorite Kingdom cards. For each Kingdom card you choose this way, insert a set of Fairy Tale cards into the sleeves in front of the Dominion cards. This way, you will have cards that from the back are identical to regular Dominion cards, but on the front feature the Fairy Tale card faces. These cards can now be used just like normal Dominion cards in your games.
Additional Setup Rules
When playing with Golden Touch, the Golden Touch cards are placed on top of the gold pile at the beginning of the game, instead of in their own pile. When a player is instructed to ‘gain a gold’, he takes a Golden Touch. Players may buy Golden Touch at a cost of 5 coins. When there are no more Golden Touch cards on top of the gold supply, then Gold may be bought and gained normally. A player may not gain a Golden Touch when he would ‘gain a curse’.
When playing with the Bridge Troll, you will need to supply your own Bridge Troll tokens. We suggest the meeples from Carcassonne as troll tokens, as they are color coded for player convenience.
